Ihnatko: I think most people have the same level of interest in mobile broadband
adapters as they have in ferrets. Who wouldn’t want a ferret? They’re
adorable. But you don’t want to actually own a ferret. What you really want is to
simply have a friend who owns one. If you can just borrow it from time
to time, then you get all of the soothing and adorable benefits without
making your house smell like a tree stand does four weeks into hunting
season.
1) If you go to Settings and look under the “General” subpage, you’ll see that there are some new options for the “Home” button. A double-tap can now take you directly to the Camera app or the Search page, in addition to the options you had under 2.0 (iPod, Home, and iPhone Favorites).

iPhone 3G S is a slick upgrade for a slick device Andy Ihnatko's exclusive first look: Can any new phone be as revolutionary as the original iPhone?

afterward, its power, simplicity, and outright eagerness to please

Ihnatko: Apple's iPhone OS 3.0 touts a great number of new, wizz-bang features and upgrade – features other phones have had for years. But, OS 3.0 pulls off these catch-up additions very well.
Ihnatko: Before you start thinking there's nothing good about the Palm Pre, take a step back and realize this is a first-generation smartphone with a lot of good ideas and innovation to go forward with.
Ihnatko: The
newest entry into the smartphone arena, Palm's Pre, is a nifty beginning for a company desperate for a hit. But there still plenty of work before this device is ready to do battle with iPhone and Blackberry.
Developers Conference was good if you're looking for long-anticipated new features - video and cut-and-paste - and a cheaper model - $99 for the current iPhone 3G 8-gig model. But oh, that AT&T anchor keeping us from the good stuff.
